Born in Vila Nova de Famalicão, Tomás Araújo joined Benfica's academy as a teenager and was part of the side that won the 2021-22 UEFA Youth League, the club's first European trophy in 60 years. After a loan spell at Gil Vicente he returned to become a regular at the heart of Benfica's defence. A tall, right-footed centre-back, he is one of the emerging defenders in Portugal's squad.
