Born in Barreiro, João Cancelo came through Benfica's academy before moves to Valencia, Inter Milan and then Manchester City, where he won multiple Premier League titles and was regarded as one of the world's best full-backs. After spells at Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Al-Hilal, he returned to Barcelona on loan in January 2026. An attacking, two-footed full-back, he gives Portugal quality and goal threat from defence.
