Born in Le Mans to Congolese parents, the towering 1.96m centre-back Steve Kapuadi took an unusual route through Le Mans, Angers and Belgian youth setups before making his professional debut in Slovakia with AS Trencin. He built his reputation in Poland, winning silverware with Legia Warsaw before a record inter-club transfer to Widzew Lodz. He made his DR Congo debut in 2025 and quickly forced his way into the World Cup squad.
