Born in Germany to Croatian parents, Mario Pasalic started at Hajduk Split before Chelsea signed him in 2014. He never played for Chelsea, instead going on a string of loans across Europe to Elche, Monaco, AC Milan, Spartak Moscow and Atalanta, where he finally signed permanently in 2020. A versatile, goalscoring midfielder, he has become Atalanta's all-time leading scorer in the Champions League.
