Born in Georgetown, Ontario to a Mexican former footballer father and English-Canadian mother, Marcelo Flores came through Arsenal's academy and represented Mexico at youth and senior friendly level before completing a switch to Canada in early 2026. An inventive attacking midfielder now with Tigres UANL, he made his Canada debut in March 2026 but suffered an ACL injury at the end of May, casting doubt over his World Cup participation.
