Born in Montfermeil, France, Johny Placide came through Le Havre's academy and built a long journeyman career across Stade de Reims, Guingamp, Oldham Athletic, Bulgaria and now Ligue 2 Bastia. Capped by France's U21s, he committed to Haiti at senior level in 2011 and has become the most-capped player in the nation's history and its captain. He was a pillar of the historic 2019 Gold Cup semi-final run, though knee surgery in March 2026 clouds his fitness heading into the World Cup.
