Alex Freeman is the son of former NFL wide receiver and Super Bowl champion Antonio Freeman, but chose soccer over football, rising through the Orlando City academy in Florida. He broke into Orlando's first team and earned his USMNT debut in 2025, featuring at that summer's Gold Cup, before a January 2026 move to La Liga side Villarreal for a reported club-record homegrown fee. An energetic, attacking right-back, he is one of the team's brightest young talents at the home World Cup.
