Born in Zwolle, Bart Verbruggen came through NAC Breda's academy before joining Anderlecht in Belgium, where he announced himself by saving all three penalties in a 2023 Europa Conference League shootout against Ludogorets. Brighton signed him that summer and he quickly became their first-choice keeper, then took over the Netherlands gloves, starting every match as the Oranje reached the Euro 2024 semi-finals. At the 2026 World Cup he is Ronald Koeman's undisputed number one.
