Born in Sweden to Iranian parents, Saman Ghoddos made his breakthrough at Ostersund, helping the unfancied Swedish club win the cup and reach Europe, before becoming the first Iranian to play in France's Ligue 1 with Amiens. He then spent several seasons in England with Brentford, including their Premier League era, before moving to the UAE with Kalba. The creative midfielder switched his allegiance from Sweden to Iran in 2017.
