Born in the Netherlands, Sidny Lopes Cabral took a winding path through the academies and lower leagues of the Netherlands, Sweden and Germany before a breakout season at Estrela da Amadora in Portugal earned a January 2026 move to Benfica. The attacking right-back scored and assisted quickly at Benfica and then moved on to Trabzonspor in the summer of 2026. He scored his first international goal in a 2025 friendly against Malaysia and is part of Cape Verde's debut World Cup squad.
