Born in Punta del Este, Martinez came through Nacional and was part of their 2018 U-20 Copa Libertadores-winning side before moving to Brazil with Red Bull Bragantino. A successful loan turned permanent at Denmark's Midtjylland built his reputation as a tough defensive midfielder, and he joined Palmeiras in 2025. He adds midfield steel to Uruguay's squad.
